Veteran Nigerian footballer Elderson Echiejile is off to Finland to join top club HJK Helsinki.
The defender, who has 60 caps for his country, has signed a contract that will keep him there for a year though he has the option to extend.
The 31-year-old, who last played for French club Monaco in 2018, also made an impression at Portuguese club Braga where he made 54 appearances.
HJK manager Mika Lehkosuo said that signing Elderson added value to the side and commented on Echiejile’s ability to defend well in the air with his heading expertise.
This latest switch to Finland makes it the sixth move for Echiejile in five years.
He is a much-travelled player and while at Monaco had loan spells with Cercle Brugge, Standard Liege and Sporting Gijon.
