Egypt are setting the pace in the medal table at the African Games in Rabat, having already picked up four golds in judo.
The Egyptians claimed top spot in the four men’s categories contested to begin the showpiece event with a perfect record.
Ramadan Darwish, the 2009 World Championship bronze medallist, claimed gold in the 100 kilograms category – dispatching Morocco’s Mohammed Lahboub in the final.
Ali Abdelmouati triumphed in the 73kg division while Abdelrahman Mohamed came out on top in the 81kg category.
Ali Hazem was the final Egyptian gold medallist in the 90kg division.
The official opening ceremony for the African Games took place on Monday evening in Rabat.
