The 67CEOs Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW19) highlighted the importance of business support from both public and private institutions in order to see SMMEs and entrepreneur flourish and grow in their businesses. It is also important to see a collaboration of these institutions working together towards a common goal.
The keynote speaker from the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, acting CEO Mrs. Vuyokazi Ntshoko encouraged entrepreneurs and SMMEs to effectively and efficiently use the GEP platform and use the information and guidance to ensure it brings growth and development they want to see in their businesses. She emphasised that the GEP carries the mandate of the Gauteng Provincial Government in making sure policies are in place that will secure the development of small enterprises in Gauteng.
Apart from the GEP, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) has within its organisation the Pre-Investment Business Center, a department that gives adequate business support to entrepreneurs and SMEs. Mrs. Naomi Mtshali from the IDC Pre-Investment Business Center encouraged entrepreneurs and SMEs to access the center for guidance and assessment of their business plans so it can secure funding and also be market ready. This is important because the IDC boast itself in the team of experts with extensive industry knowledge in various sectors; and this is an advantage and benefit SMEs and entrepreneurs can get from the center, she added. There is also Pre-Investment business support within the center that gives guidance on the viability of the business and this secures a developmental impact on their businesses.
It is therefore imperative for SMMEs and entrepreneurs to continually access sound business platforms such as the GEP and IDC to get better informed on business opportunities, tap useful resources, improve their overall performances and the growth of their business.
